PHILANTHROPY

A HISTORY:

Since 1895, Chi Omega Fraternity members have given their time and talent to provide service to others. In the late 1990s, the leadership in Chi Omega researched opportunities for establishing a national philanthropy, and in 2002, they announced the Chi Omega/Make-A-Wish alliance. Since the start of this alliance, Chi Omega has raised more than 18 million dollars and has volunteered nearly 1,000,000 hours for Make-A-Wish. Because of this commitment, they recognize Chi Omega as one of their Cause Champion sponsors.

WHAT WE DO:

#GREEKSGIVEBACK:

Our Fraternity’s goal is to have both collegiate and alumnae chapters become increasingly involved in volunteering and fundraising for Make-A-Wish and to assist in the granting of wishes to these courageous kids. Through this, all Chi Omegas can understand the importance of service to others as a founding principle of our Sisterhood. Furthermore, we believe in actively participating in community outreach and supporting causes within the Mason and Fairfax community.

This past year the Chi Kappa chapter held our second Chi Olympics. This event is filled with daily events which raise money that goes directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Some of the events we are proud to host are different types of field games for people to compete in, Cocoa with Chi O for people to pie our sisters as we raise money, and Kisses for Wishes, where we gave away little bags of Hershey Kisses for donations. Along with Chi Olympics, throughout the year, Chi Kappa maintains a constant engagement with Make-A-Wish in order to succeed in our goal to continue raising money to grant wishes.
